About Michael
Michael J Kahan is the founder and President of Kahan Travel Group. Michael was raised in Scarsdale, New York and is a graduate of Ithaca College. He earned his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in 1996. Prior to founding Kahan Travel Group, Michael spent 11 years as a Institutional Equities salesperson and trader, successfully developing and managing relationships with hundreds of corporate clients and colleagues throughout the financial business community. He has served as a Vice President of Equities at various Wall Street brokerage firms including Deutsche Bank, Morgan Keegan and Imperial Capital.
Michael enjoys an excellent reputation for integrity and enthusiasm, possesses a tireless work ethic, tremendous dedication to his clients, and genuine compassion for others. He is an active participant in many local and national philanthropic pursuits, including the New York City MS Society Bike Tour, The Keep Memory Alive Foundation, Student Sponsor Partners, and New York Cares.
Michael and his wife Lisa, live in Tarrytown, New York, 25 miles from Manhattan. They frequently travel the country and the world together, constantly discovering exciting new destinations. Michael’s lifelong passion for travel and hospitality and his desire to help others find wonderful and unique experiences have led him to create and launch Kahan Travel Group.
About Kristen
Kristen Fernandez joined Kahan Travel Group in June 2010 and has become an integral part of the company. She was raised in Cape Cod and graduated from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. In 1992, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Finance and Investments, with a minor in Marketing.
After spending three years at First Call Corporation in Boston , Kristen relocated to New York City. She continued her career in financial services at the Institutional Brokerage firm Instinet. For seven years she excelled as a sales trader and business development manager, overseeing relationships with both money management and brokerage firms. Kristen “retired” in 2002 as a Senior Vice President, following the birth of her third child.
In addition to her time in the office, Kristen enjoys her participation in the Chatsworth PTA, Junior League of Westchester on the Sound, Larchmont Yacht Club, and Student Sponsor Partnership. She is a natural leader among her peers, holding senior positions in many of these groups.
Kristen resides with her husband and four children in Larchmont, New York. Kristen certainly has the “travel bug”. She is often on her way to exciting destinations like Belize, The Galapagos, Italy, The Baltics, Panama, Tahiti and many other amazing places.
